BEGIN YOUR NEW CHAPTER WITH CONFIDENCE

It’s your life to create post-service. You and your family don’t have to do it alone.

OUR MISSION

Warrior Transition Outdoors takes a holistic approach to help the Veteran and their family transition to civilian life. We do this through lifelong family advocacy, holistic mental health interventions, and outdoor adventures.

Why We Exist

200k

Service members transition every single year. Consider the true size of this when you factor in spouses and children.

Nearly Half

Report having a difficult time adjusting to civilian life. In addition, a majority of transition support focuses on the Veteran, not the family.

3 Losses

A majority of Veterans say they lose their identity, teammates, and purpose once they get out.

Lifelong Family Advocacy

When a Veteran and their family join our organization, WTO immediately assigns you a lifelong family advocate. That person is there to walk with you and your family through all life throws your way and to be resource-minded when it is helpful to you.

We know too much at once can be a hindrance to the transition, so the family advocate, with other team members, work to create a custom transition plan for you and your family over time.

Holistic Mental Health

With the relational foundation of lifelong family advocacy in place, the Veteran now has access to free, in-house mental health treatment and life coaching for themselves and their family.

The transition and civilian life come with all sorts of hurdles and challenges. Having a professional to talk to, without the headaches of insurance or the current medical system, can make all the difference in the world as you navigate it.

Outdoor Adventures

WTO understands the importance of connecting with nature and the restorative properties it offers. The Great Outdoors lends itself to infinite forms of self-discovery, finding a new purpose or hobby, and creating space for peace and growth.

When WTO and the family determine the Veteran is ready, we provide a 5-star adventure in an area of interest to the Veteran to help them discover that new passion and sense of identity.

 FAQs

  • Warrior Transition Outdoors serves Transitioning Service Members, Veterans, Military Spouses, their children, and Gold Star families.

To us, a Veteran is someone who signed the dotted line to serve their country. The circumstances around one’s service are as unique and diverse as the individuals themselves. WTO does not stratify or uplift one type of service over another.

We serve Veterans who are in the process of transitioning out of service, as well as those who have been out for more than a decade. If you consider yourself “in transition” with the hope of establishing a new life in the civilian world, we are here for you.

We do not discriminate on discharge status. If you have a question about whether you qualify, contact us.

  • We are headquartered in Billings, Montana, but we are a nationwide nonprofit. We serve Veterans all across the country and have connections and partners all over the world to support the people in our program.

We meet people where they are at and do not require travel to Montana for any of our services. Instead, we leverage the Internet and conduct our own travel to go to the Veteran and their family as needed.

  • WTO provides all services and activities for free to the Veteran and their family, with no implication or pressure that they assist. If you would like to donate to support our capacity to do so, please visit our Donate page.

  • WTO believes the value people bring is in who they are, not what they do for us. With that foundation, the most sustainable way to support us is to come to us and share your interests. We will spend time allowing you to get to know us, and together, we will find a good fit.

  • Yes. All donations are tax exempt. We believe in the power of maximizing donations and understand donors have different goals for their money. If you are interested in donating and have questions, contact us to discuss. We are fully transparent and would be honored to go deeper.
